UAccess Student Account Write-Offs for FY 2025

As part of our annual procedures, the Bursar’s Office has written off outstanding student balances in UAccess. The students still owe these balances, but the Bursar’s Office is now no longer actively trying to collect them.

To be written off, a balance must be:

  • At least three years or older if the student is no longer registered at the university,
  • Less than $100, and
  • Requested to be written off or determined to be non-collectible.

What This Means

A report of these is available in UAccess Analytics by selecting Student, then Financial Accounts, and then Write-Offs.

A service indicator has been placed on these student accounts, preventing them from receiving services such as registering for classes or degrees until the debt is paid off. Any amount collected will be applied to the original account indicated on the charges that were written off.

Your department is still responsible for providing documentation if a student contests the debt. If your department cannot provide documentation, the service hold will be removed from the student’s account and the debt will not be collected. Please keep this in mind when destroying records.
