Approval in Process Error

When you encounter the Approval in Process status, it typically indicates that a change was made to either the employee’s information or the approver’s provisioning after the hours were submitted. This can cause the approver to no longer be part of the approval path, preventing the hours from automatically moving to an approved status.

Steps to Correct the Approval in Process Error

To resolve this, either the employee or the approver can follow the steps below. The approver will still need to approve the timesheet after the necessary adjustments are made.

  1. Add a comment to the timesheet for the days being adjusted, stating: Deleting/reentering to clear approval in process error.
  2. Delete the day(s) showing the error
    • (i.e., Approval in Process).
  3. Submit the timesheet.
  4. Re-enter the hours on the timesheet.
  5. Submit the timesheet again. The hours should now appear as approved.

Another common reason for this issue occurs when an employee reports hours for a holiday week before the holiday hours have been pre-loaded, resulting in unapproved hours. These will also enter an Approval in Process status. To resolve, follow the same steps outlined above.

Important Note
As a best practice, avoid reporting hours too far in advance to prevent this type of issue.
